Course Description

FPF101 is a self-paced plan of study detailing the filing and nonlawyer prosecution of foreign patents. Upon successful completion, students will have been taught the requirements, processes and procedures for filing and prosecuting patents in foreign countries. Differences between filing foreign patent applications directly into a foreign country versus filing into a foreign country via the PCT will be covered; as will detailed walkthroughs of online filing procedures in various countries - including whether or not a document needs to be legalized via Apostile or via a Consulate. Also included are the maintenance obligations for issued foreign patents, including use and registration requirements.
